My 30 Years of Experience

With over 30 years in the music industry, I’ve performed in front of thousands of people and toured across the country, bringing my music to diverse audiences and venues. From live shows and festivals to private and corporate events, I’ve honed my craft to deliver performances that engage, entertain, and leave a lasting impression. Started Learning Guitar / 1997

First Guitar

My musical journey began at the age of 13 when I received a sunburst Starfire guitar. I practiced every day, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for music that has shaped every performance since. Growing up in a very musical family, my father, Kevin Mason, was an icon in the South African music industry, and my mother, Sue Mason, worked at a music shop called Coastal Music (now) Bothners Music, surrounding me with music from an early age and inspiring my path as a musician.

I became part of the band Vernix, where we achieved significant milestones, charting third on Africa’s Chart Hits, being featured on the Cweed Compilation of South African Music with Gallow Records (Pedro Carlo), performing at numerous festivals, and gaining coverage in national newspapers. These experiences helped shape my skills, stage presence, and understanding of the music industry. I achieved this by the age of 17 years old.

Taking over the world / 2009

big bands & professional management

I later performed with big bands under professional management, sharing the stage with some of the country’s top artists. My music received radio play on stations including ECR, 5FM, Highveld, Jacaranda FM, and TUKS FM. Recording music and connecting with audiences gave me valuable insight and motivation, while the bass guitar became my main instrument, shaping both my style and stage presence. I had the privilage of working with the best sound engeneers in the country to mention Murry Caetano from Squeaky Takkie Studios & Archer David Burch from Tropical Sweat Studios.

Making Music My Profession / 2015

My Path as a Solo Artist

After years of performing with bands and touring nationally, I transitioned into a solo entertainer, bringing decades of experience, passion, and stage presence to every performance. As a solo artist, I craft dynamic live sets that blend classic hits, modern favourites, and original music. Performing solo has allowed me to explore my creativity fully, connect deeply with audiences, and grow as a musician. Every show is an opportunity to tell a story through music, to experiment with sound and arrangement, and to continue the journey I began as a teenager with a sunburst Starfire guitar.
